911 Emergency

My eight-year-old son has been eating me out of house and home.  During winter break, he never stopped pestering me about feeding him.  Yesterday took the cake.

"Mama, I'm hungry.  Can you make me a little snack?"

"No, Bubba," I replied.  "Dinner will be in about an hour and a half.  You can wait until then."

"No, I can't."  He walked over to the phone and began dialing.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm calling 911."

"What?  Put that phone down right now.  911 is for real emergencies.  You do not have a real emergency!"

"But Mama, this is  a real emergency.  If you don't feed me right now, I'm going to die!"

  1. Perhaps he can learn how to make a healthy snack of his own (raw veg and dip, or fruit). I used to let them have a few pretzels or crackers, to tide them over.

I love the rationalization of kids.

    1. I tried the banana approach. That wasn't good enough, though!

    1. Nope. I offered him a banana, but he wasn't interested. Apparently it wasn't that much of an emergency!

  6. haha...that's awesome. 911 as a pizza delivery service. I love it. Now FEED that boy before he dies. Geez! ;)

  7. In fairness, a snack is pretty serious business. ;) Love that it topped his emergency list! While night ideal, I would have been curious to hear how his 911 call went. :)

    1. I didn't let him complete it! He actually tried something like that when he was four, and the dispatch dude called my house to find out what the emergency was!

    1. Based on my son's last little stunt like that, I'd say the dispatch guy would've called me back and told me to get my boy under control! :)

  13. I hope he had a very satisfying dinner. Had the 911 call been put through...that would've made another interesting story!
