Wake Up Call

My teenaged daughter would sleep until three o'clock in the afternoon if left to her own devices. I've been trying to wake her up around 9:30, just to get her bio-rhythms somewhat in order for school.

The other day, I forgot, so while I was in the car driving my son somewhere, the boy had a brilliant idea. "I'll text her the most annoying sound in the world over and over to wake her up."

Apparently it worked.

If you need to wake someone up, here's the video you can send. I'm sure they'll appreciate it!

Before I go, I thought I'd share this video I made from my recital performance in April. There was no camera filming me as I played, but you can at least hear me.

  1. Oh, that's brilliant. And that'll teach her to turn off her phone when she goes to bed ;)

  2. That hippo is hideous. I think I'll send it to my son. Your playing is beautiful. I want to be your pianist.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. Thank you, Munir. (It's a viola, by the way. Not an instrument you hear often.)

  4. Hi, Sherry!

Those two clips you posted have one thing in common. They both made me weep. The annoying hippo sound made me weep because I just wanted it to stop and it wouldn't. The second clip made me weep because you are a gifted musician and played beautifully at the recital. I also wept because I could hear you but couldn't see you. :)

I hope things are improving on the home front and I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Sherry!

    1. I have to wonder who comes up with ideas like this. Somebody with a lot of time on his/her hands!

  9. I can definitely understand why someone would want to get rid of the Hippo. But you were sensational. Congratulations.

    1. Thanks! I hope your niece enjoys it. It's a viola, by the way. Not an instrument that's as well-known.

  16. My daughter doesn't have a phone yet, or I'd totally be doing that. She does however have an alarm clock. Which she never hears. If I don't get her up, she'll sleep until noon. Ugh. I have to send one of the boys to pester her when it's time to be up. Kids, eh?

    1. Yeah! When they were babies, you couldn't get them to sleep. Now as teenagers, you can't get them to stay awake!
